The Loughnan family commenced Bus operations in the Broadmeadows area in 1947. Broadmeadows Bus provided their first fixed route service between the Broadmeadows Military Camp and the North Coburg Tram Terminus. This was under the jurisdiction of the Melbourne City Council.
In the early 1950s the family run operations were extended into charter. During this period the company expanded to include special services to local schools under contract to the Department of Education.

In 1974 route service operations were expanded further north into the developing and isolated area of Campbellfield, an area not serviced by the rail system.
Route service operations were again expanded in 1985 when a new service was introduced between Upfield and North Coburg and the rapidly expanding township of Craigieburn. This service was subsequently extended to the Broadmeadows Railway station. During this time the company had continued to expand its charter, touring and school contract operations.

In 1986 the Broadmeadows operations moved to a purpose built depot in Campbellfield. This depot is a modern and up to date facility and provides parking for 80 buses along with a large and comprehensive workshop, maintenance areas, spacious offices, boardroom, large staff amenities areas, separate bus fueling and washing facilities.
At present Broadmeadows Bus operates 50 vehicles under contract from the Department of Infrastructure, Department of Education, V/line services and around 6 coaches on charter and touring work. Approximately 90 people are employed at the company.

In July 2007 The Wright family who operate Moreland Bus Lines Pty Ltd purchased a 50% share in Broadmeadows Bus. During 2008 Services operated for Department of Infrastructure were further expanded to include further growth in the new developments within the Craigieburn district.
